The new HM3 hip joint for ESSA prostheses offers the usual
exact three dimensional adjustment feature, infinitely variable
swing phase control, and is light to wear.
With the exchangeable extension stops for 18, 25 and 33° the
joint provides for the user’s individual need for safety
and improves joint alignment.
Particularly the connection with the ESSA strut (energy-storing,
shock-absorbing) leads to better shock absorption due to deformation
of the strut at heel strike and energy absorption in the stance
phase.
This gives the user a physiological gait which is aided by
the artificial hip deformation as the prosthetic leg is lifted
at toe-off. This makes it unnecessary to lift the pelvis on
the prosthesis side.
