KH5
The profile of KHP3 is suited to moderately to highly
active users with knee disarticulation or long above-knee prostheses
who require a high degree of safety.
Depending on the point in time at which the prosthesis is provided,
the joint can be set initially for relatively inactive patients
and then adjusted in line with the progress made in mobility
during rehabilitation.
The joint also secures the prosthesis during small steps, such
as those taken when turning around on the side of the prosthesis,
when walking up and down stairs, and on uneven ground. By using
the supplied extension assist spring the joint can also provide
for high demands such as quick walking/running.
The stance phase stability of the joint is determined by the
closing geometry. Control of the swing phase is actively supported
by the integrated hydraulic mechanism (adjustable in A-B-C
steps). Flexion and extension can be adjusted separately to
meet the individual needs of the user, and can also be aided
by the extension assist spring.
The construction enables the prosthesis to be assembled without
shortening in order to minimise long-term sequela such as intervertebral
disk problems, knee problems in the existing leg and in the
existing skeletal structures. The configuration of the geometry
also enables the user to stand safely and comfortably. Similarly,
the stretch on the cosmesis is reduced when sitting.
